SHANGHAI, China, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- Sixth-seeded Jiang Yanjiao of China upset her teammate Wang Shixian 21-17, 21-14 to become the first finalist in the women's singles at the China Open badminton here on Saturday.

Wang had a slow start in the first set, but succeeded in recovering afterwards to catch up to 16-18. However, Jiang grabbed three key points to win the first set 21-17.

Wang tried to speed up in the second set, but Jiang played solid defense to keep leading. Jiang made use of Wang's errors to secure the victory 21-14.

Jiang said her preparation before the match helped her a lot.

"I just tried to keep focus on every point. I was fully prepared for today's match. She is a familiar rival for me."

Wang seemed very tired. "My last match was scheduled too late yesterday, so I didn't have enough rest."

Another semifinal between China's Wang Xin and her teammate Li Xuerui will start later on Saturday.
