MEXICO CITY, Nov. 20 (Xinhua) -- Mexican President Felipe Calderon on Friday called for "peaceful but deep changes" in the country to meet the challenge of generating employment and promoting prosperity and economic growth.

At an official ceremony to mark the 99th anniversary of the Mexican Revolution, Calderon said Mexico needs changes "with the same intensity of a revolution."

Calderon said the country should make "deep and substantial changes" so as to place itself in a "different path of development and progress."

The year 2010 should be a turning point in Mexican history and greater efforts will be made to remove obstacles to prosperity, he said.
