Iris draws a picture at home in Helsinki, Finland, July 21, 2009. Iris was born on May 20, 2005. She' s very intelligent and good at imitation. When she was one year old, she held a big book in front of her as if she were reading after seeing her mother reading newspaper. At the age of 2 years and a half, she became interested in computer games, for example changing clothes for barbies. She went to kindergarten when she was over 1 year old. Young as she was, she liked helping others and was very warm-hearted. Like a bigger sister to other children, she took care of them and helped teachers with the chores. Her mind is always full of imaginations and she' s a good storyteller who often amazes her classmates with interesting stories about her trips with her family or the news she hears on TV. She loves nature and likes spending time with her classmates on fishing, singing and playing games. "She' s strong minded and independent who enjoys being the leader of the pack" her teacher said.
Bring up in a place close to nature helps Iris become a bold and outgoing girl with wide interests. She learned swimming at the age of one and a half years and was able to swim 200 to 300 meters long at three. She loves adventures and enjoys the excitement of plunging into the water from the dock as her brother often does. Her fine motor coordination was soon discovered by a diving coach. Iris was recruited to a children's diving team and took a training class every week. Skiing is her favorite snowsport which she learnt when she was three.
Iris is four years old now. She's a big helper of her mother. Besides wiping tables, sweeping the floor, she also helps her mother clean up the garden and weed. Every evening she washes fruits and serves them to her family. (Xinhua/Zhao Changchun)
