Nepalese girl enjoys school life

Jyoti Upreti walks to school in Kathmandu, capital of Nepal, on Oct. 28, 2009. Jyoti Uprety is an 11-year-old girl studying in the 6th grade of a local elementary school in Kathmandu. She lives with her parents and her elder sister in a middle-class family. Her father Prem Uprety works for a shelter run by a social organization for elderly women and her mother Bhagiratha Uprety is a house wife. As the breadwinner of the family, her father earns NRS 12000 (about 150 USD) a month. Jyoti likes reading books, playing games with her friends and watching TV.  (Xinhua Photo)
