BEIJING, Nov. 19 -- An old man unwittingly sold two bottles of Maotai, known as one of the best Chinese liquors dated in the 1970s, to a wine peddler for a paltry sum of 1,600 yuan ($234).
The senior's son, Wang, collected the liquor up to six years ago when he traveled to Japan. Each bottle is now said to be worth at least 100,000 yuan.
To the dismay of the resident of Dalian, Liaoning province, his aged father sold them to a peddler he met one day in a park in summer without being aware of its worth.
Wang is reportedly planning to drag the peddler to court to demand that he returns the vintage liquor.
