KABUL, Nov. 18 (Xinhua)-- In fresh offensive against Taliban fighters in a border town in Paktika province east of Afghanistan the troops eliminated nearly two dozen insurgents, a private television channel reported Wednesday.

"Afghan and the Coalition forces killed 23 Taliban fighters in Barmal district Tuesday," Tolo broadcast in its news bulletin.

Some Arabs and Pakistani militants are also among those killed in the battle, it further said.

Taliban fighters have not made comment.

Located along the border with Pakistan's lawless Wazirustan's tribal area, Barmal district often comes under Taliban attacks.
