UNICEF to celebrate 40 years in Nepal

    KATHMANDU, Nov. 17 (Xinhua) -- The United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) is holding an event on Nov. 20 to celebrate four decades of UNICEF's work in Nepal and two decades of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

    UNICEF sent a press release to Xinhua, saying that Ram Baran Yadav, the President of Nepal will attend the event.

    Other key speakers include Sarbadev Prasad Ojha, the Minister of Women, Children and Social Welfare and Mr Kul Gautam, former Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations and Deputy Executive Director of UNICEF.

    Children from various districts of the country will also be presenting on the occasion.

    According to the press release, the program will launch the UNICEF Nepalma booklet celebrating four decades of UNICEF in Nepal, the State of the World's Children (SOWC) report celebrating two decades of the CRC, the Naya Sambidhanma Hami Balbalika ka Adhikar booklet, as well as the launch of the new UNICEF Nepal website.
