SANTIAGO, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) -- The Inter American Development Bank (IDB) has formed a partnership with International Enterprise (IE) Singapore to promote trade between Singapore and the IDB members, the IDB said on Monday.

The areas of collaboration included urban planning, infrastructure, information and communication technologies with focus on e-government solutions, logistics, trade facilitation and promotion, solutions for small and medium enterprises' competitiveness, and education, said the press release on the IDB website on Monday.

The agreement was signed during the 6th Latin America-Asia Business Forum held in Singapore last weekend, which would allow Singapore and the IDB's 26 borrowing members to enhance economic ties and promote business relations, the IDB said.

The partnership opened opportunities to facilitate investment and experience sharing in a region that had become in recent years an important market for Singapore companies, it added.

The IDB, established in 1959 to support the process of economic and social development in Latin America and the Caribbean, is the main source of multilateral financing in the region.

And International Enterprise (IE) Singapore is an agency under the country's Ministry of Trade and Industry with the mission of promoting overseas growth of Singapore-based enterprises and international trade.
