Philippine police file charges against kidnappers of 3 Basilan workers

    MANILA, Nov. 17 (Xinhua) -- The Philippine National Police (PNP) filed charges against 28 members of the terrorist group Abu Sayyaf for last week's abduction of two Chinese nationals and a Filipino laborer in Basilan, southern Philippines, according to a spokesman on Tuesday.

    PNP spokesman Chief Superintendent Leonardo Espina said that local investigators filed charges of kidnapping and serious illegal detention case at the provincial prosecutor's office in the capital of Isabela.

    Espina said that suspected Abu Sayyaf members kidnapped on Nov.10 the two Basilan Hi-Tech Woodcraft executives Michael Tan and Oscar Dee and laborer Mark Singson. The three were snatched at the company's premises at the village of Maluso.

    Philippine police and military officials have intensified efforts searching for the kidnappers and their captives.
