The 3G (TD-SCDMA) project started in September and was undertaken by the Tibet Office of China Mobile. A total of 12 TD-SCDMA¡¡macro base stations were built in Nyingchi's Bayi Town and the Mainling Airport. The network in the prefecture was also updated.

At present, 90 percent of Bayi Town and the airport has been covered by 3G (TD-SCDMA) services, which will provide locals with various services including video telephone, wireless access to the Internet at a high speed and TV Mobile. By then locals can enjoy the convenience and new experience brought by the 3G services.

Meanwhile, the Nyingchi Prefectural Government will continue to promote the use of 3G(TD-SCDMA) in other aspects including city planning, environmental evaluation, pipe building and project undertaking.
