Cartoon "Tibetan Mastiff" to premiere in 2010

    BEIJING, Nov. 16 (Xinhuanet) -- Tibetan Mastiff, a cartoon movie co-produced by China and Japan, will premiere in China, Japan and other Southeastern Asian countries in the second half of 2010.

    The announcement was made at the Anime Festa 2009 China and Japan Animation Exchanges Meeting that opened here on Sunday.

    The two-day meeting is co-sponsored by the Beijing Japanese Culture Center of the Japan Foundation and the Animation School of Beijing Film Academy.

    Chief Producer Masao Maruyama said that the film was co-produced by Madhouse, a Japanese animation studio, and the China Film Group Corporation.

    Adapted from a novel by Yang Zhijun, the film tells of the legendary stories between a Tibetan boy and a Tibetan mastiff named Dorje Yongzhi.

    Later, five lectures on the production of the film will be held, together with the screening of a Japanese animation titled Summer Wars and a Chinese one titled Happy Running.

3D animation Tibetan Rock Dog starts making 

    BEIJING, Oct. 14 (Xinhuanet) -- The making of a 3D animation, adapted from a comic book titled "Tibetan Rock Dog" by Zheng Jun, a famous Chinese rock singer, started on Monday, according to Tibet Business.

    The investment in the animation is projected at 30 million U.S. dollars. The movie is scheduled to be in the cinema in the summer of 2011 and will be the first original Chinese animation to be introduced into the Hollywood.  Full story
