RIO DE JANEIRO, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- Playing at home in Brasilia, Universo beat Franca 88-80 on Sunday to become the only team to end the day with a perfect 3-0 record.

    Guilherme led Universo with 22 points, followed by Alex with 17points. Both Estevam and Valtinho contributed with 13 points each.

    For Franca, the team's leading scorer was Tony with 24 points. Marcio added 17 points, followed by Helinho with 11.

    With the win, Universo remains the only undefeated team in the New Brazilian Basketball league (NBB) in the 2009-2010 season. The team will defend its leadership on November 22 when it hosts Araraquara/Palmeiras. On the same day, Franca will travel to play Minas.
