    The Tibetan antelope, a unique species on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, has been designated as an animal under the top national protection. Capable of adapting to an extremely harsh environment and with excellent genes to resist cold and diseases, it is acclaimed as "the pride of Hoh Xil" and was included in 2000 in the list of the world's rare species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources.

    BEIJING, Nov. 11 (Xinhuanet) -- Video monitoring in the Hoh Xil National Nature Reserve on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau will be made available in 2010, according to the Qinghai People's Radio.

    Located in Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, southwestern Qinghai Province, the reserve, at an average altitude of 4,600 m, is the home to rare plateau animals such as Tibetan antelopes, Tibetan wild donkey, wild yaks and Tibetan gazelles. Full story
