SINGAPORE, Nov. 12 (Xinhua) -- U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner said Thursday that the United States needs a strong dollar to recover from the crisis and the stability of the dollar is important to the world.

    Speaking at a press conference held here on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meetings, Geithner said the United States bears a special responsibility to maintain the stability of the dollar.
