MOSCOW, Nov. 11 (Xinhua) -- Moscow is expecting London to speedup the "reset" process of their bilateral relations, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Wednesday.
"The faster and deeper the resetting occurs on the opposite side, the more useful it is for Russian-British relations," Lavrovtold Vesti TV.
Lavrov regarded the visit of British Foreign Secretary David Miliband to Russia earlier this month as "useful."
"We have conducted quite useful talks, on the results of which three joint statements were approved, including one on non-proliferation of nuclear weapons," Lavrov said.
Miliband, who paid a two-day visit to Russia, was the first senior British diplomat to visit Moscow in five years.
The British diplomat said in a recent interview with the Russian daily Novaya Gazeta that both London and Moscow need to realize that "a respectful disagreement or recognition of a disagreement is the basis for a positive agreement."
Relations between Moscow and London have been tense over a number of issues, including a dispute concerning the London murder of exiled former Russian intelligence officer Alexander Litvinenko, as well as the decision to close offices of the British Council in St. Petersburg and Yekaterinburg.
