LAGOS, Nov. 11 (Xinhua) -- At least 30 Nigerians on death row in Indonesia are still alive because of Nigeria's new foreign policy, the country's Minister of Foreign Affairs Ojo Maduekwe said.
The minister told reporters in Lagos on Tuesday that the new policy was a tool in ensuring Nigerians' welfare, adding that the new policy was yielding positive results and called for its sustenance.
The new foreign policy will positively reposition the country on foreign relations, he added.
The minister urged Nigerian diplomats to embrace the new policy and ensure that they truly represent interests of Nigerians.
"Ambassadors should realize that they do not live a pleasurable life at government's expense without fighting for the citizens' welfare," he said.
Maduekwe also called on Nigerians outside the country to be their brothers' keepers.
