CANBERRA, Nov. 11 (Xinhua) -- Australian Alicia Molik will make her WTA singles comeback in January after being given a wildcard into the main draw of the Hobart International tennis tournament, Tennis Australia confirmed on Wednesday.
Molik, 28, who reached a career-high eighth in the world rankings, retired in September last year after being plagued by the effects of a middle-ear condition.
Molik had played at all four Grand Slams, winning Grand Slam doubles titles at Roland Garros and the Australian Open and taking home the bronze medal for Australia at the 2004 Athens Olympics.
"The last few months have been fantastic playing on the Pro Tour but I'm really looking forward to having another step up to an even more challenging level," Molik said in a statement.
