BUDAPEST, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- Foreigners in Hungary can purchase A/H1N1 vaccines in pharmacies across the country, the health ministry has said.

Anyone, whether from an EU state or not, may purchase the Hungarian-made vaccines with a valid prescription, the local newswire MTI quoted the ministry as saying on Monday.

The prescriptions do not have to be issued by a Hungarian doctor, the report said.

Tamas Horvath, the head of the Hungarian Chamber of Pharmacists, confirmed that doctors were required to prescribe the vaccine to all foreigners living permanently in Hungary if they requested it.

The Hungarian health ministry said that it was not imposing any lockdown on the border with Ukraine, as Slovakia recently did, because "viruses cannot be stopped at borders anyway."

The ministry said the A/H1N1 virus has already spread into Hungary, but there was no report of an epidemic outbreak of the influenza in the country.
