YANGON, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- A European film festival will be launched in Myanmar's commercial city of Yangon next week to boost cultural exchange between Myanmar and the European countries, sources with the French embassy said on Tuesday.
The 10-day film festival, which is the 18th of its kind, will last from Nov. 20 to 29 at the Naypyitaw Cinema.
Unlike the previous year, the festival will be joined by the European Commission for the first time in addition to Britain, Italy, Germany and France.
With English subtitles, a number of famous films from these counties will be screened which include "One day in Europe", "Emma's Bliss", "Zo Zo", and "One Hundred", from Germany, "Jean De la Fontaine" and "Love is in the air" from France, "The Early Bird Catches The Worm", from Italy and "Becoming Jane" from Britain, the sources said.
The European film festival is preceded by a South Korean one which was held last month at the Thamada Cinema.
During the four-day 5th Korean film festival, four Korean movies, namely Summer Whispers (romance), Mom's Way (Drama), Marathon (Drama) and Oseam (Animation) were on the screen and a famous Korean actress, Lee Young Eun, who played the main role in the "Summer Whispers", as well as two Korean film directors came and joint the event in Yangon.
