China, Nepal join hands in promoting tourism

    KATHMANDU, Nov. 9 (Xinhua) -- The tourism bureau of China's Tibet and Nepal Tourism Board(NTB) signed an Agreement for promoting tourism Monday.

    The Nepalese delegation and the Chinese delegation are holding the 3rd Joint Coordination Committee Meeting for the Promotion of the tourism between Nepal and Tibet Autonomous Region in Nepali capital Kathmandu which concluded on Monday.

    Murari Bahadur Karky, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation, said that the meeting is sure to be a momentous event to sort out the subsisting issues on tourism between Nepal and Tibet and also further consolidate mutual cooperation.

    Wang songping, Deputy Director General of Tibet Regional Tourism Bureau, expressed his gratitude to the Nepalese and his wishes for the success of the meeting and also for the success of Nepal Tourism Year 2011.

    The two-day meeting is pursuant to the Memorandum of Understanding signed in August 2003 between the Nepal Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation and Tibet Tourism Bureau.

    During the meeting, the two sides signed cooperation agreements airlines, rafting industry, establish a trekking trail from Lomanthang, northwest of Nepal, to ManSarowar in Tibet.

Nepal, Tibet tourist boards hold joint meetings

    BEIJING, June 30 (Xinhuanet) -- The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) and the Tibet Autonomous Regional Tourism Bureau held a recommendation conference of bilateral tourism Monday, in a bid to enhance cooperation between travel agencies on either side of the border.

    "It's the first time we have held such a meeting in China's Tibet. We hope to introduce both Nepal and Tibet to visitors from China' s mainland through our joint efforts, thus making our tourist routes more attractive," said Prachanda Man Shrestha, chief executive officer of the NTB. Travel agencies in Tibet to handle Nepal visas

    BEIJING, July 3 (Xinhuanet) -- Tibet's travel agencies are expected to be able to provide tour and visa services to Chinese tourists visiting Nepal, according to a bilateral tourist promotion campaign held in Lhasa on Monday.

    Package tours to Nepal will be discounted and offered more convenient visa procedures as well, promised Prachanda Man Shrestha, chief of the Nepal Tourism Board. Full story
