DOHA, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- Delegates attending the 6th Global Forum for Fighting Corruption and Safeguarding Integrity here on Saturday called on international community to work together to uproot corruption.
Inaugurating the forum, Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa AlThani said that corruption has several dimensions, namely social, economic, educational and the fight against the phenomenon is not confined to one side.
The high-level participation of the forum shows the importance of international cooperation to repulse such a dangerous phenomenon which scope has extended worldwide," he said.
U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder said achievements have been made in combating corruption, but world countries should remain vigilant and international cooperation remains one of the best solutions to anti-corruption.
The two-day event under the theme of "strength in unity: public-private partnerships to fight corruption" groups over 1,500 government officials, judicial experts and representatives from civil organizations around the world.
Delegates will discuss topics including effective practices and innovative approaches to international cooperation in anti-corruption enforcement, the global financial crisis and corruption, and the role of public-private partnership.
The global forum on anti-corruption was launched by the United States in 1999 as a biennial inter-governmental mechanism to promote cooperation among countries in fighting corruption.
This year's event will be followed back-top-back with the 3rd Conference of States Parties to the UN Convention against Corruption on Nov. 9-13.
