BEIRUT, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- Lebanese new cabinet will be formed in next two days as the opposition has reportedly agreed on the majority's portfolios, the local media reported on Saturday.

Local newspaper the Daily Star reported on Saturday that both parliamentary and opposition sources claimed Friday that the distribution of portfolios was nearly complete, with only a few details still requiring discussion.

The paper said that Lebanese president Michel Suleiman said that minor details were still being negotiated, following the approval of one of the opposition leaders, Free Patriotic Movement (FPM) leader Michel Aoun's acceptance of Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri's proposal.

Meanwhile, another newspaper al-Nahar reported on Saturday thatthe opposition agreed Hariri's proposal in a meeting of opposition leaders on Friday night.

According to al-Akhbar newspaper's report on Saturday that an anonymous source close to Hariri said that Hariri may visit Suleiman Saturday to submit the final cabinet lineup.

Hariri's proposal gives Aoun the Telecommunications, Energy, Tourism and Industry portfolios, along with a ministry of state to an Aoun's ally. FPM sources said that almost all hurdles facing the cabinet formation had been resolved, thus, the formation process was expected to be concluded within the next 48 hours.

It is in the fifth month that Lebanon has no new cabinet, after the Western and Saudi-backed March 14 Alliance won the June election over Hezbollah-dominant March 8 Alliance opposition supported by Iran and Syria.

Hariri presented the first proposal to Suleiman in September, but was rejected by the opposition as it did not meet their demands in the new cabinet. Hariri stepped down and was designated as PM for the second time.

Sources close to the cabinet formation said that the optimistic atmosphere came as Saudi King Abdullah's visit to Damascus earlier in October, a symbol of rapproachment of the two countries that both have big influence in Lebanon.
