KATHMANDU, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- The first birthday of twin baby elephants at an elephant breeding center in Nepali south Chitwan is being celebrated on Saturday.

According to the Nepali national news agency RSS, these calves are the first twin baby elephants in the South Asia.

An elephant named Dev Kali aged over 30 years at the center gave birth to the twins last year.

Elephants rarely give birth to twins because a baby elephant foetus weighs so much.
