HOUSTON, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- Seven people have been killed and another 12 wounded in a shooting at Fort Hood Army Base in Killeen, Texas, U.S. army officials said early Thursday afternoon.
There were two suspects in the shooting, officials said. One gunman is in custody and a second was still at large.
A message on the Fort Hood Web site said, "The post is on lockdown. This is not a drill. Please stay inside. It is an emergency situation."
The shooting prompted the base and nearby schools to order a lockdown.
