OTTAWA, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- Canada's ruling Conservative Party has maintained its double-digit lead over major rival the Liberal Party, according to a new poll released Thursday.
The weekly EKOS poll put the Conservatives at 37.4 percent, compared with the Liberals at 26.8 percent. Both parties are back at the support levels they got during last year's election.
The two parties were once locked in a dead heat during the summer, but an unpopular Liberal plan to force an early election has cost the opposition party some of support.
The poll gave the leftist NDP 16.3 percent, down from 16.7 percent last week.
The Green Party had the support of 10 percent, while the Bloc Quebecois had 9.4 percent support.
The automated telephone survey, commissioned by national broadcaster Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), reached 3,327people between Oct. 28 and Nov. 3. The results carry a margin of error of plus or minus 1.7 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.
