BANGKOK, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva announced Thursday Thailand has to make diplomatic retaliation against Cambodia's interference of Thailand's internal affairs.

    Abhisit's remark was made after ousted former Thai Premier Thaksin Shinawatra was officially appointed as adviser of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen and the Royal Government of Cambodia King Norodom Sihamoni.

    Abhisit said the appointment of Thaksin is the intervention on Thailand's internal affairs by Cambodia, Thai television Channel 9 reported.

    The Foreign Ministry will manage the diplomatic retaliation against Cambodia and clarify in details, Abhisit said, adding "Thailand will let Cambodia know about the Thai people's feeling."

    However, good relationships among the people of Thailand and Cambodia will remain good, the Thai Prime Minister said.

    Hence, the Thai government has no policy to close the Thai-Cambodian border at this stage, Abhisit said.

    Prior to Abhisit's statement, the Thai government has recalled the ambassador to Cambodia in a move to protest against the appointment of Thaksin.

    The Cambodia's leader earlier declared Thaksin could be in Cambodia as his guest and provided a residence for him.

    Hun Sen also said during the recent 15th ASEAN Summit hosted in Thailand that Cambodia would not hand over Thaksin to Thailand, if Thailand sought his extradition.

    Thaksin was ousted by the military coup in September 2006, in accusation of corruption, and has been kept in exile since then.

    He returned to Thailand in February 2008 to face corruption charges, but he later fled into exile again and was convicted in absentia.

    In a related development, the People's Alliance for Democracy plans to hold a press conference on Friday as it said it will present new evidence concerning the Thai-Cambodian border dispute.

    And, Abhisit is going to depart for Tokyo on Thursday night in order to attend the first Mekong-Japan summit on Friday and Saturday.

    PHNOM PENH, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) -- Former Thailand Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra was officially appointed as adviser of his Cambodian counterpart Hun Sen and the Royal Government of Cambodia King Norodom Sihamoni, a statement of the Royal Government announced on Wednesday.

    The King signed the Royal Decree of the appointment of Thaksin Shinawatra on Oct. 27. The appointment was made in accordance with the country's constitutions and at the request of Prime Minister Hun Sen.   Full story
