BEIJING, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- More than 500 media organizations across the world joined their hands Thursday in launching a campaign to attract more and wider attention to children's rights and welfare.

    The worldwide media coverage this year on large-scale public welfare activities, co-sponsored by UNICEF and Xinhua, highlights the events to mark the annual Universal Children's Day, which falls on Nov. 20.

    Xinhua will release the following stories as the first part of a series of special reports on children ahead of Universal Children's Day. More stories and advisories will follow.
