BAGHDAD, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) -- A total of 16 people was wounded in separate bomb explosions against Iraqi security forces in Baghdad on Wednesday, a police source said.

An explosive charge attached to a car owned by an interior ministry official, detonated in the morning in the Iskan neighborhood in western Baghdad, wounding two of the ministry officials aboard and five nearby pedestrians, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

In a separate incident, a bomb stuck to a civilian car went off while passing a checkpoint in Baghdad's northern district of Adhamiyah, wounding three college students aboard and two soldiers, the source said.

Also in the morning, a roadside bomb struck a police patrol on a main road in Baghdad's northern neighborhood of Waziriya, damaging a police vehicle and wounding two policemen aboard, along with two nearby civilians, the source added.

Sporadic roadside bombs, car bombings and suicide attacks are still haunting Iraqis, shaping a setback to the efforts of the Iraqi government to restore normalcy in the country after four months of U.S. troops pullout of cities and towns.
