WARSAW, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- Poland will continue to post positive economic growth and thus its unique position in the EU, Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister Waldemar Pawlak said commenting on the autumn economic forecasts published by the EC on Tuesday.

    The EC document says that although the EU economy will shrink by 4.1 percent this year, Poland will be the only member state to post economic growth of 1.2 percent.

    Poland has coped fairly well with the economic crisis, the EC also says in its forecasts. Strong fundamentals helped the Polish economy to survive the world crisis in a better shape than that ofany other east-central European country, the document notes.

    "Using (the experience of) 20 years of dynamic transformations, our economy and our businessmen show their capacity to adjust" to the difficult economic environment, Pawlak said in Warsaw.

    He said Poland had "very durable and strong foundations of positive economic growth" and the country "will undoubtedly retain its (leading) position in Europe."

    Pawlak denied press reports alleging that the government mulled a departure from public debt safety thresholds in view of a difficult budget situation.
