MOSCOW, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- The death toll of A/H1N1 flu in Russia has climbed to 10, said the country's consumer rights watchdog on Tuesday.
Of the 10 deaths among people aged 20 to 53, eight were from the Trans-Baikal region, one in Moscow and one in the Krasnoyarsk region, the RIA Novosti news agency reported citing a statement published on the Rospotrebnadzor website.
The watchdog said the most threatening situation with A/H1N1 flu has been monitored in Russia's Far East, Siberia and Moscow.
With an outbreak of flu cases in October, the traditionally seasonal flu time, the total number of officially confirmed flu cases in Russia has amounted to nearly 2,000.
Russia has planned to start a mass vaccination program on Nov. 9, primarily in the regions severely hit by the outbreak.
