BEIJING, Nov. 3 -- John Lennon's childhood is the subject of new movie "Nowhere Boy." The world premiere of the movie about the famous Beatle's teen years closed the London Film Festival on Thursday night.

The film is Director Sam Taylor-Wood's first feature, and stars Aaron Johnson as Lennon.

Depicting the musician at age 15 in 1950's Liverpool, it follows his relationship with his estranged mother Julia, and his Aunt Mimi who raised him.

Talking about the pressure of playing an icon, Johnson claims he tried not to think about it.

Aaron Johnson, actor, said, "I'm not like imitating or portraying anything that everyone's seen before, I'm not doing 'The Beatles.' I couldn't really focus on the man he became because we didn't need to focus on that bit."

It shows Lennon escaping from his secret family dramas into rock and roll, as well as his friendship with his song-writing partner Paul McCartney.

Thomas Sangster appears as Macca and is just relieved that they didn't have the real Paul McCartney as a special guest on set when they were filming Lennon and McCartney's first meeting.

Also in the cast, British actress Kristin Scott Thomas plays Mimi and Anne Marie Duff portrays Lennon's mother Julia.

"Nowhere Boy" is set for release in the UK on Christmas Day, Dec. 25th.
