COTABATO, Philippines, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- Six members of a family were wounded in grenade attack Monday in the volatile southern Philippines but authorities ruled out terrorism.
The victims, four of them minors, were taking their lunch inside their house in the village of Rosary Heights 7 in this city when unknown men hurled a grenade at them, said city police head Senior Superintendent Willy Dangane.
The victims were rushed to a nearby hospital by their neighbors after the blast.
Dangane said while there is an ongoing investigation, the incident could be related to family feud, or rido and not terrorism.
In the south, clan war or rido is common among warring clans and sometimes the hostilities could last for decades until a peace pact is reached by protagonists, usually through mediation by religious leaders and the payment of blood money.
