KABUL, Nov. 2 (Xinhua)-- United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon arrived in Afghan capital Kabul Monday morning, spokesman of Foreign Ministry Ahmad Zahir Faqiri said.

    His visit to Kabul took place in the wake of Taliban attack on a UN guesthouse last Wednesday that left over a dozen people dead, including six international staff of the world body.

    He is visiting Afghanistan amid electoral crisis as Presidential Hamid Karzai's top challenger Abdullah Abdullah pulled out of the runoff set for Nov. 7.

    During his stay in Kabul, the world body's chief would hold talks with President Karzai and UN officials stationed in Afghanistan, Faqiri added.

    His talks with Afghan leader would focus on the security situation in Afghanistan and the second round of presidential polls is to be held amid tight security next Saturday, he said.
