GENEVA Oct. 29 (Xinhua) -- Argentine footballer Lionel Messi supports the International Committee of the Red Cross's (ICRC) "Our World. Your Move." Campaign, the ICRC announced on Thursday.

    "Sport is just like life - by working together, we can achieve the smallest of goals and overcome the biggest of obstacles. It's all a matter of teamwork," said Messi, who plays for FC Barcelona in Spain.

    Launched on May 8, "Our World. Your Move." is a public awareness campaign highlighting the challenges people face and how actions can change lives.

    Messi is one of more than a dozen international celebrities to join forces with the ICRC.

    The campaign has generated 460 events in over 130 countries worldwide, including first-aid demonstrations, exhibitions, concerts and youth gatherings. Tens of thousands of people have accessed the campaign website.

    The Geneva-based ICRC, founded in 1863, is based in 80 countries.
