JAKARTA, Oct. 29 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia on Thursday held the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)'s International Anti-discrimination Conference in West Java provincial capital of Bandung, attended by 107 delegations from 15 countries, Elshinta online news reported here.

The event opened by the UNESCO's assistant director general Pierre Sane accompanied by vice governor Dede Jusuf is the first anti-discrimination conference in the world.

In his opening speech, the vice governor said that in 1955, Indonesia held the first Asian-African Conference in the same building, the biggest conference in the two continents' countries against eastern bloc.

"It's right to hold the event as there still are discrimination cases in the world, including in Indonesia," said Dede.

Dede hopes that through the event, tribal, group and religious discriminations could be erased.

He also thanked to the UNESCO for choosing Bandung as the conference's venue.
