MANILA, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- Eight people were killed while 24 others were hurt in a road accident Wednesday morning in Isabela province, northern Philippines, according to local media reports.

    Cagayan region police head Chief Superintendent Roberto Damian said that a bus bound for Cagayan province collided with a pick-up truck along the national highway. The wounded bus passengers were brought to the nearby hospitals. The fatalities, including the truck driver, were brought to the Funeraria Carbonel in Cauayan City in Isabela.

    Damian said that the bus hit the pick-up truck after making a swerve. The bus then fell down the ravine. Damian said the police is still investigating the accident.
