Japan's MSDF destroyer collides with S Korean ship in Kammon Straits

    TOKYO, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- A Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force (MSDF) destroyer collided late Tuesday with a South Korean container ship in the Kammon Straits in Fukuoka Prefecture, local media reported.

    Three crew members on MSDF destroyer Kurama were slightly injured in the accident, which occurred at around 8 p.m.(1100 GMT)and caused fires on the Japanese vessel, the Kyodo News reported, citing the defense ministry.

    No one was injured on the South Korean commercial vessel, which was heading for Osaka from Busan.

    A liaison office has been set up at the prime minister's office and investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident.
