ATHENS, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- Eight illegal immigrants drowned and another went missing early Tuesday after their boat collided with rocks near the Cape Korakas beach on Lesvos Island.

    The boat was carrying 18 illegal immigrants from Afghanistan. Rescuers aboard Coast patrol vessels plucked nine people from the sea, recovered eight bodies and arrested a 20-year-old Turk who was accused of trafficking.

    A search was underway to find the missing child.
