NEW DELHI, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- There has been no increase in the movement of insurgents along Indo-Bangladesh border, a top Border Security Force (BSF) officer said on Tuesday.

"We do not see increase in the movement of militants along the borders. There is nothing particularly serious as of now in the eastern sector," BSF Special Director General (East) R K Medheker said in a statement.

"The border is being managed well. It is going on quite well by checking illegal migration, smuggling and movement of militants," he further added.

"BSF has been carrying out joint patrolling with Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) in some places. We hold regular flag meetings at various levels," the special director general said.

BSF has been maintaining strict vigil to check incursion.

"The border is vast, porous and the terrain is difficult. This poses some constraints," he said responding to the issue of repeated incursions along Meghalaya border bordering Bangladesh from across the border.

BSF would recruit 29 new battalions in five years to increase vigil along the borders.

"This will help guard the borders better," Medheker said, adding new weapons and gadgets were also being inducted into the forces.
