COLOMBO, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- At least three people including two soldiers were killed Tuesday morning in a road mishap involving the chief minister of Sri Lanka's Eastern Province.
The motorcade of Sivanesaturai Chandrakanthan alias Pillayan, the Eastern Province chief minister traveling at high speed hit a tree at Gokarella area in the northwestern district of Kurunegala around 0045 local time (1915 GMT), the police said.
The two soldiers killed in the accident were those traveling in the chief minister's backup car.
The chief minister was unhurt.
