LONDON, Oct. 26 (Xinhua) -- The London Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) announced here on Monday that Doug Arnot has been appointed as Director of Games Operations.
According to a press release issued by LOCOG, "Arnot will be responsible for the overall planning, co-ordination and delivery of London 2012's Games Time Operations. This will include integrating venues, sport, village, security, games services and broadcast functions. He will report directly into LOCOG CEO Paul Deighton".
Arnot was the Managing Director for Event Operations for the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympic Games. Since 2006, he has been Senior Vice President of the Chicago 2016 bid team.
Earlier this month, Chicago was the first city to be voted out of contention against the other three bidding cities Rio de Janiero, Tokyo and Madrid. The 2016 Summer Olympic Games is going to be held in Rio.
