COLOMBO, Oct. 26 (Xinhua) -- Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey V. Lavrov has arrived in the Sri Lankan capital Colombo for a two-day visit, officials said Monday.
Lavrov met his Sri Lankan counterpart Rohitha Bogollagama Monday morning and was scheduled to have an afternoon meeting with Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse.
Officials say bilateral issues on economic co-operation are among the main agaenda.
Lavrov is fluent in Sinhala, one of Sri Lanka's two official languages and began his career in 1972 at the Soviet Embassy in Sri Lanka.
