JAKARTA, Oct. 26 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia had already submitted 23 culture heritages and landscapes to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) for recognition, the Antara news agency reported here on Monday.

"We are expecting that the cultural heritages and landscapes we already submitted to the UNESCO can be put in its heritage list," Hari Untoro Dradjat, the director general of History and Archaeology section at the Culture and Tourism ministry said.

Hari said that UNESCO has admitted three cultural heritages possessed by Indonesia. They are Borobudur temple, Prambanan temple and Sangiran Jurassic fossil site.

For cultural landscapes, Hari said that UNESCO asked Indonesia to complete the requirements by submitting more materials and documents.

"For Bali landscape heritage, the UNESCO asked us to submit more materials and we had done so in September," Hari said.

According to the senior official in the culture and tourism ministry, supplying information and materials to UNSESCO were the hardest part to get the recognition.

Hari said that world heritage recognition from the UNESCO would give benefits for Indonesia as it would be a tremendous promotion for the tourism business in the country.

"Besides that, the UNESCO would provide protection efforts should the cultural heritage suffer from damage," he said.
