NEW DELHI, Oct. 26 (Xinhua) -- The Indian government Monday condemned the killing of four paramilitary personnel by the Naxalities in the central state of Chattisgarh and even slammed the sympathizers of the left-wing rebels.

"The government of India strongly condemns this unprovoked and heinous attack by the rebels on a public sector security force that was on a routine patrol in an area falling under the jurisdiction of a public sector corporation. What is the motive behind the attack on a police force that provides security to the public What is the message that the rebels intends to convey?

"These are questions that we would like to put not only to the rebels but also to those who speak on their behalf and chastise the government. We think that it is time for all right-thinking citizens who believe in democracy and development to condemn the acts of violence perpetrated by the rebels," the Indian Home Ministry said in a strongly worded statement.

A group of Naxalites Sunday carried out an attack on a state-owned mineral company in Chhattisgarh, killing four paramilitary soldiers.
