14 militants killed in clashes with Pakistani security forces

    ISLAMABAD, Oct. 26 (Xinhua) -- At least 14 militants were killed when they attacked security check-posts in a town in northwest Pakistan, while a security man was killed and four others wounded, local TV channel reported Monday.

    According to sources, militants launched a three-pronged attack on security forces' checkposts located in Tora Dari area in Hangu, a town in North West Frontier Province, late Sunday night.

    Security forces retaliated killing at least 14 militants and injuring many others, meanwhile in process, one security men lost his life and four other sustained injuries, the private TV GEO News reported.

    Both sides used heavy artillery in skirmish.

    After clashes security forces heavily shelled the suspected hideouts of extremists. The militants fled to the mountains in result of the forces fierce onslaught.
