LAGOS, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- Burkina Faso head coach Rainer Wilfeld on Sunday blamed the team's lack of experience and confidence for their 1-0 loss to Turkey in the Under-17 World cup.
Wilfeld said at a post-match press briefing at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, that he had spent barely two months with the team.
He said the team had a good game in the first half but fluffed several scoring chances.
He congratulated Turkey for the victory and assured that Burkina Faso would improve in their next match.
His Turkish counterpart, Abdullah Ercan, expressed delight at the victory, saying that they were looking forward to their second match in the group and hoped they would get the maximum points to qualify for the round of 16.
He also commended the organization, atmosphere and the stadium pitch, which he said, was of international standard.
The match was attended by over 15,000 spectators including FIFA Vice President, Jack Warner, LOC Chairman, Sani Lulu, and Gov. Sullivan Chime of Enugu.
According to the News of Nigeria (NAN), Muhammed Demir scored Turkey's goal in the first half.
The second match in Enugu is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 28 with New Zealand facing Burkina Faso and Turkey taking on Costa Rica.
