KABUL, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- Afghan Special Forces during a commando action have found over three dozen heavy weapons and foiled subversive activities north of capital Kabul, a statement of Defense Ministry said Sunday.

"The weaponry seized include 14 pieces of 82 mm caliber mortars, two pieces of 60 mm caliber mortars and 24 pieces of 82 mm guns," the statement said.

These weapons were found from Jabal Seraj district of Parwan province, 75 km north of Kabul on Saturday, it further said.

Five more pieces of assault rifles, or Kalashnikovs, were also discovered during the operation.

However, it did not say if there were any casualties on the troops or the insurgents.
