KABUL, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- Afghan forces during series operations discovered nearly two dozen pieces of weapons and took into custody one person in this regard, the Defense Ministry said here Sunday.

    "Personnel of national army during operations against militants had discovered 23 pieces of assault rifles, seven anti-tank mines and 32 mortar mines from eastern Khost and Paktia provinces," the ministry said in a press release.

    But it did not give exact date of the operations.

    It added that one person had been detained in this regard and had been handed over to concerned authorities for interrogation.

    Taliban militants fighting Afghan government have not made comment.
