11 countries to attend 4th solo-duo dance festival in Lagos

    LAGOS, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- Professional dancers from 11 countries are expected at the international Solo-duo dance festival tagged "TRUFESTA 09" on Nov. 1-8 in Lagos, Nigeria.

    Dayo Liadi, director of Ijodee Dance Center in Lagos and organizer of the festival, said Saturday that the event would commemorate the 10th anniversary of the center.

    Liadi, a leading Nigerian dancer, said it would feature professional dancers from Australia, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Canada, Ghana, Germany, India, Kenya, South Africa, Senegal, Benin and Nigeria.

    He said more than 20 dancers would participate in solo and duo dances at various shows lined up for Lagos and Ilorin.

    The essence of the festival is to create awareness on solo and duo dance among the youths in Nigeria, he said.

    There are many solo and duo dance festivals being organized in some African countries and the other continents, Liadi said, adding that the center was committed to ensuring that Nigerian youths fully exploited their potentials.
