HK reports 33rd A/H1N1 flu death case

    HONG KONG, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- A 45-year-old male patient who had tested positive for Influenza A/H1N1 died in Hong Kong Thursday night, bringing the total number of A/H1N1-related deaths to 33 in the city, the local Hospital Authority announced on Friday.

    A spokesperson of Queen Elizabeth Hospital said the patient with nasopharyngeal cancer was admitted to the isolation ward of the hospital for treatment due to pneumonia on Oct. 10.

    He was confirmed to have been infected with Influenza A/H1N1 on Oct. 11 and his condition became critical on the same day. He was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit and required ventilation support.

    The case was reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and Center for Health Protection.
